God ALWAYS Keeps His promises

I know it's been a while, but it's called real life.
I now have two jobs. One is an office job, and it is one of the most boring things I have ever done.

This my typical office job day:

7:30- I arrive, turn on my computer and log in
8:30-12- I scan documents.
12-12:30-I take my mandatory lunch.
12;30-5:30- I scan documents.

That is all. Needless to say, I'm pretty savvy with a scanner.

To keep my mind occupied as my hands perform this mindless task, I have listened to some books and some music.

War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy took me 2 1/2 weeks. Best. Book. Ever. Not only did it inform me of the war of 1812, Tolstoy also has a very insightful perspective on the idea of chance vs. control.

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. This was an interesting novel, but I didn't enjoy it as much as War and Peace. Mainly I think, because there was just too much impropriety and I didn't like very many characters. I do enjoy Tolstoy's tone and style of writing however. He has the gift of expressing a particular emotion or attitude exactly right.

I also read Pride and Prejudice, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and a couple other classics.

Then, I started listening to a book of the Bible every day. It takes about 2-2 1/2 hours for each book, and so my days have been starting off right. Plus, I have
made many observations and learned so much.

  • The Israelite army when they first recorded it was bigger than Napoleon's army when N's army was at it's maximum size.
  • God favored Judah over Israel as far as kings go. When they split, Israel had tons of bad kings with a few good ones, and Judah is the opposite.
  • God ALWAYS keeps His promises. Starting at the beginning of the Bible, I am reminded of all the promises and covenants that God made with His people. As I continue reading, I find more and more that God keeps his end of the covenant and we, the sinful stupid humans, continue to sin.
  • At the same time, God is so gracious and forgiving. Over and over and over, the Lord shows mercy on Israel and blesses them, brings them back into His peace, and restores their glory.

I am so thankful that I can listen to the Bible while I work.
